More and more people are utilising Video Marketing techniques. The ever increasing speed of broadband connectivity is fueling an explosion in online media publishing, from home videos on 'YouTube' to complete online television channels such as the BBC's 'IPlayer'.
Often, many of these videos can contain conventional television adverts, both picture and sound or are published to advertise a particular business in an unusual or comedic fashion. This is often refered to as 'Viral video Marketing' whereby a video published on a social site such as YouTube is of such interest (unusual, funny, controversial) that it stimulates enormous awareness and recieves many thousand of 'views'. This is turn can generate both brand awareness and website traffic. Once uploaded, unlike banner advertising or other forms of paid adverts there is no limit to the length of time a video may be online or receiving views. This makes it a very cost effective method of 'getting your name out there'.
An example of the above is that when the Royal Yacht Hotel was officially opended in July 2007, a short video of the 'launch party' was uploaded to YouTube. This to date has generated hundreds of click throughs to their website as well as stimulate discussion on the social network site in relation to the hotel and its facilities.
